Promoting African Music
We are keyed in to promoting musicians with African origins, predominantly from Southern Africa. After establishing a strong promotion presence on the club scene, we endeavoured to grow the business to one day festivals. Southern African Music Airwaves (SAMA) Festival is an annual one day event which we started starting in August 2009. This event is open to families, music lovers and all interested in experiencing the live music and culture that Southern Africa has to offer.
We would like to point out that Y2K Ent Promotions’ objective remains focused on promoting young Southern African musicians. We endeavour to provide a safe, sound and competitive platform for such young talent to showcase their talent. We expect such young talent to use that platform as a springboard to gain more exposure and become international artists. It was no surprise that we brought here Mafriq, Roki, Winky D, Sniper Storm and Danny from Zambia for our debut SAMA Fest UK Aug 2009 as well as having Shingai Shoniwa and The Noisettes as our main act. We are constantly looking and searching in all genre be it urban grooves, dancehall, reggae, museve, jazz, rumba, chimurenga etc. To all young musicians if you think you are good then lets hear from you.
Supporting African Communities
We are looking at donating some of the proceeds towards providing clean water and better health to some disadvantaged communities in Southern Africa since recent outbreaks of Cholera have been reported in Zimbabwe and other Southern African countries. In today's society, this should not been happening so we aim to provide clean water through a variety of means/methods among others water purification tablets to keep it under control.
We endeavour to reach out and support the vulnerable and disadvantaged children and elderly. We would like to see more resources to these children who are homeless, not in education, scrounging for food and with no family. We would like support schools, hospitals and other charities. It is these children who will become musicians, teachers and leaders of tomorrow. We also appreciate ideas, support, recommendations and any positiveness in view of our objectives.
The idea is to use music from the region in order to attract a wider audience, this provides opportunities for businesses from Southern Africa to exhibit their products and also promote Tourism industry from the region. We aim to promote young talent from the region staging them with veteran musicians promoting international exposure. The ultimate beneficiaries are Southern African Nations.
Safe Musical Entertainment
Y2K does not compromise on the safety of the audience. We work with local councils to provide a safe environment for everyone. Health and safety audits are carried out for each event. Our events are covered by public liability insurance. Our aim is to provide the best musical entertaining event in a safe environment.Tuku: Greatest Hits Tour
